White Lake Oaks (991 N. Williams Lake Road, White Lake)
Two time Edgar award winning mystery writer, Steve Hamilton and International prize winning poet Leland James will be the featured authors at the Author’s Luncheon, May 18 at White Lake Oaks (991 N. Williams Lake Road, White Lake) from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Hamilton is best known for his Alex McKnight series which is based on the exploits of a retired Detroit detective turned investigator living in the town of Paradise, MI on the shores of Lake Superior. His highly acclaimed new series “The Second Life of Nick Mason” launches this Spring and will be available at the luncheon.
Leland James is the author of three books of poetry and has been published in over fifty journals and magazines worldwide. He is the winner of the various national and international awards for his short poems and haikus.
Hamilton and James will be available to sign purchased books after their presentations.
“The Authors Luncheon is a really unique way to support Huron Valley Council for the Arts and add a personal connection to the stories that you already know and love,” said Erin Sabo, Executive Director.
Tickets for the event are $30.00 each. Tables will seat ten for those wishing to reserve a table. Guests will be able to select their choice of entrée. Tickets can be purchased at the Huron Valley Council for the Arts in person or by phone.

Commerce Township Hall located at 8600 PGA Dr. in Commerce Township
Come experience the 19th annual Walled Lake Schools K-12 Student Art Exhibition! This year the show will be located at the Commerce Township Hall located at 8600 PGA Dr. in Commerce Township (off Martindale Dr. between Pontiac Trail and Oakley Park Rd.). The artwork will be available for viewing from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM the week of May 23rd-26th. An artist recognition celebration is planned for Wednesday, May 25th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM to recognize the work of represented student artists, as well as the curriculum of the Walled Lake Schools Visual Arts Department. This event is open to the public so come and enjoy an evening of fine art and refreshments. You can even cast your vote for the work you feel most deserves honorable recognition and professional framing for display in the ESC building for the 2016/2017 school year.
Don’t miss this spectacular event! The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Away interactive trailer will be at the Commerce Township Hall May 24th-25th from 3-7pm. Come enjoy artwork on display and interactive hands-on exhibits to be enjoyed by all ages.
