Metropolitan Detroit Bureau of School Studies. Inc.

This scholarship is open to students attending a Metro Bureau member school district.  Scholarships applications must be submitted by March 3, 2017.  The online application can be accessed at  http://www.metrobureau.org/2017-scholarship-application/.

Once you have completed the application, please print a copy for your records before you click Submit.   Also, you will need to print and submit a Signature Form.   You must complete and submit the signature form before your application is considered complete. 

You can also complete a hard copy of the application and fax (313-577-8278),  e-mail (pdenson@wayne.edu or daberger@wayne.edu),  or mail a copy to us at 391 College of Education, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan 48202.

 To be eligible students must:

   Be a graduating senior from a high school of a Metro Bureau member school district.

  Intend to enroll at one of the following Metro Bureau Member Colleges/Universities:

  • Henry Ford College
  • Oakland County Community College
  • Oakland University
  • Wayne County Community College
  • Wayne State University           

Scholarship amount will be $1,000.00.  Recipients will be required to provide proof of acceptance at one of the institutions listed above. 

Successful scholarship recipients will receive their scholarship award at their local school district this spring.

Total Sports Leadership Scholarship

Each year the Wixom Community Foundation will offer the Total Sports Leadership Scholarship to a male and female graduating high school senior. The monies from the Leadership Scholarship can be used for tuition, books and classroom materials for any qualified institute of higher learning. Recipients of the Total Sports Leadership Scholarship(s) are determined on a competitive basis and require applicants to submit fully completed applications.

Annually, announcements are issued to area high schools, colleges and, vocational schools describing the Total Sports Leadership Scholarship program along with a sample application suitable to copy and distribute. This year, potential scholarship candidates must complete the application and submit supporting documentation by April 1, 2017. Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the Total Sports Leadership Scholarship panel which will evaluate the completion of all listed criteria below.

Rzeznik Family Continuing Education Scholarship

AWARD: $ 1,000 per scholarship

Each year the Wixom Community Foundation will offer one or more scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The scholarship monies can be used for tuition, books and classroom materials for any qualified institute of higher learning. The awards are determined on a competitive basis and require the submission of an essay and a completed application. Applicants must be current residents of the City of Wixom and have resided here for at least 2 years. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2017.

Wilfred Scholarship

AWARD: $ 2,500 per scholarship

The businesses and industries of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Environmental account for a significant amount of the Wixom tax base and employment opportunities. Critical to the continuing success of Wixom’s manufacturing and technology sector is the recruitment of trained and skilled employees. To that end, the Wixom Community Foundation (WCF) is offering scholarships to qualifying individuals interested in a career in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the environmental programs.

Annually, announcements are issued to area high schools, colleges and, vocational schools describing the scholarship program along with a sample application suitable to copy and distribute. This year, potential scholarship candidates must complete the application and submit supporting documentation by May 15, 2017.
