At the February 2, 2017 Board of Education meeting the Board heard a proposal to close the Community Education Center beginning in the 2017-18 school year.
This recommendation was initially part of the 2011 Plante Moran Facilities Utilization Study when it was suggested to close the CEC along with Twin Beach and Maple Elementary Schools.
This recommendation is being made as one of the continual budget reductions made over the past 15 years.
The District is conducting two Community Forums so the community can meet with District administrators and learn more about this recommendation.
The Community Forums are at:
- 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at the Wixom Community Center located on Pontiac Trail with the Wixom Public Library.
- 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at the Commerce Township Community Library located in Dodge Park in Commerce Township.
