Welcome Back Letter 2016 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer.  Although traditional classes have not been in session, Geisler Middle School has been a busy place getting ready for the 2016/2017 school year.  As Western High School and Walnut Creek have been enjoying the security upgrades we gained last year, we have been hosting them and their programs all summer!

Speaking of Walnut Creek, this fall there will be a new face in the Assistant Principal’s office.  GMS welcomes Mr. Kyle Pipkin as our new AP!  Mr. Pipkin comes to us from Walnut Creek and will be bringing with him instructional expertise in visible thinking strategies. As we say, “Hello,” to Mr. Pipkin, we have had to say, “Good-bye,” to Mr. Gustitus. Mr. Gustitus will be assisting in the transition for a new principal at Walnut Creek.  Both Mr. Pipkin and Mr. Gustitus have been working together this summer to make these transitions seamless.  I know you will all enjoy Mr. Pipkin’s positive attitude and passion for kids.  Please make sure to introduce yourself when you see him. Also, any questions that you have regarding athletics should be directed to Mr. Pipkin.  Mr. Pipkin’s email is: kylepipkin@wlcsd.org.

We invite you to watch our Welcome Mr. Pipkin video.

We administrators have been training and meeting to learn about new requirements, curriculum and technology so we can be instructional leaders in these areas for our staff and community.  Our secretaries and custodians have been organizing, cleaning, enrolling new students, and generally creating an outstanding environment for your students to return to in September. Soon, our teachers and I will be participating in “Spice It Up!,” an opportunity to learn and share new and better ways to deliver instruction for maximum student engagement and outcomes.

We look forward to another amazing year at GMS!  It’s time to get those Great Minds Soaring again!! And remember – “The Strength of the Pack is in the Wolf, and the Strength of the Wolf is in the Pack,” – Kipling.
