Kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year opens March 13, 2023. 

Please view our Criteria for Enrollment prior to beginning the registration process.

Attention Junior Kindergarten Parents: You do NOT need to enroll your current Junior Kindergartener into Kindergarten. They will automatically be placed into their home/attendance area school for Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 School Year.

*Please note: three proofs of residency are required.

Kindergarten Orientation 2023

Join us for Kindergarten Orientation on Monday, March 13 at 6pm at all 12 Walled Lake elementary schools! Our helpful elementary staff members will be on hand to answer questions and provide families with all of the information necessary to start your child's educational journey off on the right foot.

Please fill out the Kindergarten Questionnaire on the right side of the page to ensure you receive updates from your child's elementary school.

Kindergarten Information

Incoming kindergartners must be five-years-old on or before September 1, 2023. 
Exception: According to Michigan Law, a child may be enrolled in kindergarten 
if he/she is not five years of age on September 2, 2023, but will be five years of 
age not later than December 1, 2023 and parent or legal guardian notifies the school 
district in writing (Kindergarten Waiver Form) that he or she intends to enroll the 
child in kindergarten.

Research indicates that developmentally appropriate full-day schedules benefit kindergarten children academically, socially and emotionally. Our principals and teachers understand this and are well equipped to meet the needs of our kindergarten students.

Our kindergarten students begin to learn a whole host of reading, writing and mathematics concepts and learning strategies that give them the foundation for a successful elementary school career in Walled Lake Schools.

Junior Kindergarten Information

Walled Lake Schools is excited to offer our families Junior Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year! Junior Kindergarten will support kindergarten readiness through a play-based curriculum. Our program will cultivate academic and social-emotional learning along with opportunities for play, creativity, and social skill development.
