Elementary Summer Learning Opportunities

Smart Start Summer Camp (for exiting K-4th grade students):

It is important that students stay actively involved in reading, writing and math over the summer. Smart Start is a literacy and math program that will offer your child an opportunity to maintain and develop their reading, writing and math skills. Smart Start will run August 2-13 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at Commerce, Hickory Woods and Keith.Transportation will be available from several central pick up locations. If you are interested, please complete the form below by MAY 28 for each child you would like to participate. Space is limited, families will be notified of enrollment by June 4. Virtual Summer Literacy Tutoring (for exiting K-5th grade students):

Eligible students will be invited by his/her teacher to participate in virtual literacy tutoring to maintain and develop their literacy skills. Students will meet in small groups with their tutor via Zoom twice a week from June 21-July 30. Schedules will be set with the tutor. Teachers will reach out to eligible students the last week of May. 

Secondary Summer Learning Opportunities

Virtual Summer Literacy or Math Mentoring (for exiting 6th-8th grade students):
Eligible students will be invited by his/her teacher to participate in virtual literacy or math mentoring to maintain and develop their literacy or math skills. Students will meet in small groups with their tutor via Zoom twice a week from June 21-Aug 30. Schedules will be set with the tutor.

High School Credit Recovery – IN-PERSON LAB

Eligible students can register to recover credits to earn credit toward graduation. The in person labs will be offered at Walled Lake Western, Walled Lake Central, and Walled Lake Northern. Walled Lake teachers will be onsite to offer support as students work through the courses. The two-hour lab sessions are scheduled M-F, 8:00 a.m. OR 10:30. The courses will run June 21 - August 20. REGISTRATION FOR THE NO-FEE HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT RECOVERY IS CLOSED NOW.

STUDENTS MAY STILL SELECT THE INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES LINK AND REGISTER FOR THAT PROGRAM. (Tuition is reimbursed for credit recovery students who finish classes on time.)

Depending on teacher-availability, the no-fee high school programs may be re-opened.

Summer Module for Students exiting 8th Grade Math
