WLCSD ALICE Training Update
August 26, 2022
Dear WLCSD Families:
In the Walled Lake Consolidated School District, the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. As we begin our new school year, I am pleased to share that we are continuing our ALICE® training for all of our staff and students during the 2022-23 school year. Last December, we effectively and purposefully provided the necessary training for our staff and students to feel safe and secure in our buildings moving forward in a short period of time.
The Walled Lake Consolidated School District is committed to becoming an ALICE® District. In order to achieve our goal, we must complete the following steps:
- First - All staff must complete the online ALICE® training module. This step is currently in process at this time.
- Second - Staff will complete in-person training. Please see the schedule referenced below. On these training dates, the school building will be CLOSED to students.
- Third - All buildings must continue to practice safety drills throughout the school year with students.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support from our stakeholder groups when it comes to this important work. Specifically, we would like to extend our gratitude to our local law enforcement agencies for their support in this process. Without their assistance, this plan would not be possible.
On the date a building is scheduled for staff to participate in in-person ALICE® training, the building will be considered CLOSED and there will be NO SCHOOL for students on that particular day. We know this adjustment may cause schedule conflicts for our families and we apologize for any inconvenience this plan creates.
Staff In-Person ALICE® Training led by local law enforcement and supported by Building Administration:

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we ensure our students and staff feel safe and secure in our buildings. Please reach out to myself or your child’s principal if you have any questions related to this plan.
We look forward to welcoming your child back to school next week for our first day of school on Monday, August 29.
