'Gold Together'

WLN Volleyball partners with American Cancer Society and Red Wings to beat childhood cancer

The Walled Lake Northern volleyball team served up quite the start to September’s Beat Childhood Cancer Month.

The Knights partnered with the American Cancer Society and the Detroit Red Wings for their ‘Gold Together’ Volleyball Game on Thursday night to help raise money for childhood cancer research.

Red Wings’ forward Michael Rasmussen was among speakers at the event, along with Abby Samuels and Tom Pursel on behalf of the American Cancer Society.

The Lady Knights were decked out in gold with socks, face paint, and special ‘Gold Together’ t-shirts they wore for warm ups and on the bench. Throughout the night, the PA announcer also shared facts to raise awareness about childhood cancer.

Northern beat Waterford Kettering in straight-sets to close out a Varsity, JV sweep of the Captains.
