Walled Lake Northern’s 4x800 relay team sets new school record

Walled Lake Northern’s Ella Thompson, Maddie Gordon, Taylor Regester and Ava Kurczewski etched their names in the Knights’ record books in Milford on Friday afternoon at the Division 1 Regional Championships.

Not only did the ladies take home the regional title in the 4x800 meter relay, but they also set a new school record in the process running the event in a blazing 9:21.72.

Three of the four qualified for the Division 1 State Meet on June 3 at Rockford High School in an additional event as well. Kate Carter will join Gordon, Kurczewski and Thompson for the 4x400 meter relay at the state meet. Kurczewski also qualified in the 1600 meter run and Thompson will compete in the 400 meter dash.

The Walled Lake Northern boys track and field team will send six to the Rockford High School for the state championships; Joey Iquaniello (400, 4x400), Lucas Karbel (4x800), Cameron Krebs (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4x400), Ty Parker (1600, 4x400, 4x800), Nick Piagentini (4x400), and Evan Rice (4x800).
