To our 6th Grade Families:
We are very excited that your child will be attending Walnut Creek Middle School and we look forward to meeting your student on Orientation Day on August 22nd, 2022. As you may know, our school participates in the nationwide WEB program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help sixth graders feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of middle school.
The WEB sixth grade orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome and support sixth graders by assigning them an 8th grade WEB Leader as a mentor during this first year. This WEB leader is a responsible older student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader in our school.
The orientation consists of activities, games, locker practice and a school tour all designed to help your 6th grader get comfortable in their new school environment, meet friends, and build a relationship with their 8th grade WEB leader. The following information is to help prepare you and your student for orientation day:
- Orientation is a student only function. The program will run from 1pm-3pm. Lunch is not provided.
- Orientation begins promptly at 1pm at Creek. Please drop students off at the gym side of the building, and have students come in through the Gym doors. Students should look for the large enter signs on the outer door windows.
- Due to the activities throughout the afternoon, your students should not bring backpacks, purses or other like items.
- Because the day is active, please make sure your student wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement (ie: skirts, baggy long pants etc.).
The entire orientation will help your student begin to make a positive transition from elementary school to middle school. Throughout the afternoon large and small group activities will create a sense of community, and welcome your student into our Creek family. We look forward to meeting your student on August 22nd, 2022.
Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Mr. Taboh, our Creek principal, or Mrs. Berman, one of our Creek counselors.
